Teachers
Our teachers are Vocationally Certified Parent Education Instructors. Each teacher has a Bachelor or Master’s Degree and are employed by Lake Washington Institute of Technology. They all have been parents in toddler co-op programs and bring real-life experiences to the classroom.
Kris Anderson joined our teaching staff in August 2000. Previously she was a member of Lake Washington Toddler Group for four years. While in the program she served as a parent coordinator for one year and President for two years. Needless to say, Kris knows our program well! Before joining our teaching staff, she served a three year term as President of Evergreen Co-op Preschool. Kris received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Washington and her Masters Degree in Education from Western Washington University. Kris grew up in the area and is married with three children.
Susy Robinson joined our teaching staff in August of 2003. Before joining the teaching staff Susy was a parent and board member of Lake Washington Toddler Group. She served as a parent coordinator and the Publicity chair. Susy received her Bachelor of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education from Western Washington University. She has taught second grade and has coached a high school varsity softball team for the Mukilteo School District. Susy is from the area and is married with two young children.
Becky Kimmeljoined the staff of LWTG in September 2005 after enjoying it as a parent in the program. She earned a bachelor degree and teaching credential from Westmont College as well as a M.Ed in curriculum and instruction from City University. She has teaching experience in both Washington and California. When not teaching, she loves to read, garden, camp, hike, and spend time with her husband and two daughters – graduates of toddler group!
Amy Mikkelson joined the staff of LWTG in 2010. Prior to joining our staff she taught at Redmond Toddler Group for five years. Amy is a Registered Nurse with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Michigan. Before teaching toddler group Amy taught childbirth and early parenting at Evergreen Hospital and also worked in pediatric nursing positions at hospitals as well as pediatricians offices. Amy attended Lake Washington Toddler Group as a parent and was a parent coordinator. While raised in the mid-west, Amy lived in various areas of the country before settling in the Seattle area with her husband. She has been married for 25 years and has 2 sons.
Heidi Jones joined our teaching staff in August 2010. Prior to joining our teaching staff she was a parent in our program for three years and served on the board as a parent coordinator. She has been a part of the preschool co-op system for the last two years and served on the board as the registrar and facilities chair. Heidi has a Bachelor of Arts and Science in Sociology from the University of Colorado and received her Teaching Certification from Metropolitan State College of Denver. She has taught 3rd and 2nd grade in the Issaquah School District. When not teaching, Heidi enjoys photography, light gardening, walking, and spending time with her husband and two kids.
Paula Anderson has been involved in cooperative preschools for a number of years, first as a parent and later as an instructor. In addition to being on staff at the Lake Washington Toddler Group, Paula also teaches two classes at the Northshore Community Co-Op Preschool in Bothell. Paula gained her early childhood experience while serving at an orphanage in Mexico, and working as a Headstart teacher for several years. Paula is a certified foster parent and has two daughters, 8 and 10.
