Each year, the Miss Mary Award is granted to an individual in recognition of outstanding service to LWTG. Any volunteer who goes beyond the “call of duty” may be a candidate for this service award.
This year the LWTG community selected Board President Julia Van Rensburg to receive the Miss Mary Award. Julia, a mom of three very active girls, has been a Toddler Group parent since 2017. Over the years she has served our Board as both Secretary and President and will continue serving in that role even though her kids no longer attend! Now that's dedication! Julia has also worked behind the scenes to leave Toddler Group better than she found it putting systems in place so that the duties of each board member are clearly defined and can be easily passed to the next person. We are so fortunate to have a committed, hard-working volunteer like Julia!
This is what her peers say about Julia...
"Julia has a been the steadfast President for LWTG for the last two years. She was a big part of coordinating and implementing Teacher Kris’ 25th anniversary celebration, which was a huge success. Her positivity and thoughtfulness has brought more value-add to LWTG than she may realize. Her commitment and love for LWTG shines through in all she does for the school."
"Julia embodies the spirit of LWTG. She is so warm, welcoming, and inclusive. She inspires everyone around her to be their best selves and is always willing to lend a helping hand."
"Kindness, compassion and thoughtfulness are where Julia starts and ends. Thank you Julia, for all that you do for us."
Each year, the Teacher Kris Award for parenting education involvement goes to a parent or caregiver who demonstrates an eagerness to attend parenting education events, to use the knowledge gained and to share insights with their peers.
