Thank you to the nearly 140 people who attended Kris Anderson's Memorial Open House, hosted by LWTG on July 12th. Our guests ranged in age from 3 months to 89 years old, all coming together to share our gratitude and grief. Attendees dressed in Hawaiian shirts, sports team shirts and wore lots of Kris' favorite color, blue.
Big and small guests made coffee-filter flowers, wrote notes to Kris on dissolving paper, colored two giant WeLoveTeacherKris posters, cozied up in our library with grief-&-loss picture books, rolled out and cut blue play dough, and snacked on some of Kris' favorite treats - cheese sticks, crackers, wintergreen lifesavers, gummy bears, chips, donuts and more.
Finally, to honor Kris' 25-year commitment to foster children, guests generously donated a mountain of diapers and baby wipes for Olive Crest. Scroll through a few photos of the event below.

Kris showed her love for foster kids by annually organizing gifts for them during the winter holidays. Donate in Kris' name at Olive Crest.
Death is one of the hardest subjects to talk about with young children, especially when you’re struggling with your own sorrow. However, children will need your help to understand it. To guide you during this difficult time, we've put together two downloadable support documents for you and your kiddos. Sesame Street Workshop also has a really helpful section on grief that you can access here.
